I’m not a professional interior designer nor do I pretend to be and for the past 7 years I’ve moved at least once every year which has been a big excuse for me to put projects on hold.I dreamed of pretty things and the day I could afford to make the ideas in my head come to life and ended up settling with a mattress on the floor with random items scattered all over my room.
I seemed to live like this forever , until I moved in with my roommate Salina of two years now and she introduced me to the magical world of D.I.Y. (Click here to see some of the pretty things she makes).Salina had moved even more frequently than I did, but she had the lovely habit of taking her beautiful home wherever the wind took her, all while doing it affordably and this slowly but surely inspired me.
One of my most recent projects was my desk. I had been wanting a desk for so long so I could escape the terrible habit of falling asleep working at my computer in bed. I don’t have a ton of space in my room so I needed something small. Salina found this desk for me from a local second hand store down in White Rock, texted me a photo and I thought it was perfect. I bought the paint for the chair and desk and crystal knobs from Cottage Paint on East Beach in White Rock, BC.
My favourite thing about this paint is that it requires no sanding whatsoever. For a beginner like me who doesn’t have the greatest amount of patience in projects such as these, it was perfect! 🙂
Here are the before shots and the final result. I lovvveee it. 🙂 For now this will do me just fine.
